Dr. Sajid Amin Javed

Research Fellow

Dr. Sajid Amin Javed, presently working as Research Fellow at SDPI, holds a PhD in economics with dissertation on modeling the economic costs of macroeconomic and political uncertainty. Prior to moving to SDPI, He has held senior positions in various institutes/organizations. With a background in academics and research, over the last 1o years, he has worked with leading public sector universities/organizations and research institutes including National Institute of Population Studies (NIPS), Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (PIDE), International Islamic University (IIUI) and ITD directorate, Ministry of Defense Pakistan. Dr. Sajid has also undertaken assignments with Islamic Development Bank (IDB), South Asian Network for Development and Environmental Economics (SANDEE) and Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (HEC). He also served (2012-2014) as a lead researcher at the project on climate change jointly undertaken by International Development and Research Center (IDRC) Canada and PIDE.

Dr. Sajid’s research is located at the cutting edge of interdisciplinary and transnational inquiry of issues related to economic growth and sustainable development. He has published in peer reviewed journals; nationally and internationally. His research interest (and published work) include: macroeconomic uncertainty and economic growth, inclusive growth, exchange rate uncertainty and remittances inflows, human capital, intergenerational mobility, economic costs of climate change, development policy and public health. His recent research is on modelling the economic costs of and adaptation to climate change. Recently Dr. Sajid moved his research interest into the modeling of social dynamics and policy analysis with specific focus on social inequalities.

 He has been teaching Advance macroeconomics, development economics, Poverty and Income Distribution, econometrics and revolutions and progress in economics to post graduate students at PIDE and IIUI. He is supervising PhD and M.Phil. students involved in analyzing an array of topics including the decision making process of adaptation to climate change, construction of households index of capacity to adapt to climate change, political economy of local governments in Pakistan, role of parental socio-economic position in educational outcomes of child, Correlates and consequences of early age marriages in Pakistan etc.  Dr. Sajid can be reached at sajidamin@sdpi.org
