Yasir Dil

Digital Campaign and Communication Officer

Yasir Dil did his Master’s degree in Development Studies from Iqra University, Islamabad in 2014. His main tasks in SDPI are to engender dialogue and policy advocacy on emerging issues of public interest on an immediate basis. He is also engaged in implementing an annual digital communications strategy as per the policy of the organization. This involves digital media, copy writing, monitoring and building social media presence, compiling press lists and dealing with media enquiries.

His appearances on electronic media included various radio and television channels, i.e. PTV World (Youth World), GEO (Zara Sochiye Campaign), SAMAA (Har Pakistani Mein Chupa ik Hero), Waqt (Indepth with Nadia ), Pashto One, Khyber News, Radio Pakistan, FM 93, etc. He has also hosted radio show, Youth ke Awaz, on Awaken Pakistan FM (Web-based Radio).

He had participated in Civic Education Café organized by UNDP & UN-Women 2013 where he spoke on the ‘Importance of Social Media to Ensure Civic Education’.

He has led youth groups from various platforms and got awards in connection with his services for engaging youth in different activities. He has organized, with his team, a number of important events as mentioned below:

 

  • Organized in November 2015, Go Green Rally was a collaborative effort of SDPI and Heinrich Boell Stiftung (HBS) which engaged a group of young activists on climate change. It was anchored under the umbrella of SDPI called Pakistan Youth Climate Network (PYCN). At least 100 participants took a round of the city campaigning and chanting the slogan that there is ‘No Planet B’. Mr Dil acted as the major player of the event organizing team.
  • On June 6, 2015 he conducted worldwide views on climate change and energy consultative debate where 10,000 citizens selected around 100 countries to reflect the demographic diversity in their countries or regions where citizens attended daylong meetings.
  • His first public breakthrough came when he participated as a motivational speaker in Alif Ailaan, Pakistan’s biggest educational campaign called ‘Taleemi Caravan’.
  • He was also selected as a speaker to SAARC Youth Initiative representing Pakistan other than that also represented Pakistani youth in “World Conversation” with PENN State University arranged by the US Embassy. He represented youth perspective in Team Commonwealth 2014 ceremony organized by Pakistan Institute for Parliamentary Services.
  • He led the team who participated in Global Entrepreneur Week 2012 and National Youth Assembly social media campaign.
  • He has conducted trainings of local support organizations in Chitral with the assistance of Aga Khan Rural Support Program to aware youth about social entrepreneurship and how to outreach social enterprise via digital media.
