Centre for Capacity Building

SDPI Centre for Capacity Building

Center for Capacity Building (CCB) has been working since 1998 with the aim to impart high quality research based trainings on sustainable development to public, private and corporate sector organizations/individuals. It has so far trained more than 12,000 individuals, including around 5,000 women. The center has a well-established patron list. More than 650 organizations and SDPI partners, including NGOs, and private & public sector organizations have benefitted from these trainings/workshops. The Center develops its capacity on an ongoing basis to deliver training courses conducted by SDPI trainers as well as resource persons from specialized fields. These courses strengthen associational networks and lead to subsequent collaboration among the public, private and NGO sectors in addition to partner institutions. Each year, after intensive in-house brainstorming as well as external market research (survey to assess training requirements of potential client organizations), the Center prepares and implements a calendar consisting of about 20 to 25 short generic and specialized research based courses.

Keeping in line with SDPI's gender integration policy and to encourage women to register for trainings, 20 - 25 per cent discount is given to every female participant. The same amount of discount is available for students as well. The CCB offers one free seat in each training event to a nominee of the Press Clubs. 15% discount is available for participants, who have previously attended SDPI's workshop since 2009. The year 2014-2015 was satisfying despite the overall reduction in the training expenditures in the public and corporate sector. CCB successfully completed the activities planned for 2014-2015 as well as conducted customized trainings for development, corporate and public sector organizations.

Evaluation Process for Trainings

The Center has an ongoing, comprehensive evaluation process for its trainings to improve quality and identify if the participants achieved the desired goals. Participants, at the end of each workshop, rate each module and give their candid comments on the content, quality and usefulness of exercises and group work.

The second stage of training evaluation is conducted four months after training through on-job post-training assessment forms. The participants are encouraged to express their views on how the training has helped them in carrying out their jobs.
