Pakistan, like any other developing countries, is struggling with challenges it is facing on its way to the accomplishment of SDG 4 “Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all”. Though the progress is slow (accompanied with ups and downs) but it is more or less steady. Contributing to this struggle, SDPI (Sustainable Development Policy Institute) has launched a report on District Education Ranking-2017 (DER).
The report compares the performances of various regions of Pakistan based on their standards of education by assessing the educational outcomes as well as infrastructure in the country. It covers some of very important policy areas such as access, quality, gender parity, and infrastructure. These measures are used in order to track performances of different districts and provinces. All 148 districts and areas of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Federally Administered Tribal Areas, Gilgit-Baltistan, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, and the Punjab have been covered.
