Asif Javed

Associate Research Fellow

Asif Javed is a PhD (Economics) scholar at the School of Economics, Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad. He did his MPhil from Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (PIDE), Islamabad. Before joining SDPI, he worked with the World Bank, British Council, South Asian Network for Development and Environmental Economics (SANDEE), and International Alert. His areas of research work include:

  • Digital trade as engine of growth;
  • Digital financial services in Pakistan: opportunities, challenges and suggestions;
  • National study on digital trade integration,
  • South Asia’s services trade: barriers and prospects for integration;
  • South Asian regional investment and value chains;
  • Role of public sector in developing social enterprises;
  • Pakistan economic cooperation with Afghanistan;
  • Environmental regulations in textile processing sector; and
  • Poverty and social impact analysis of Workers Welfare Fund.

He has produced a number of publications on different research themes, including digital trade, digital financial services, global value chain, tax reforms, agriculture, internal migration and labour mobility, youth employment and human resource development. He has attended national and international trainings such as CGE Modeling in Nepal, and SAARC training on HRD, in Islamabad.
