Clean energy transition is the only answer and solution to secure the sustainable future of Pakistan.

SDPI’s Energy Unit is pioneering efforts to support the clean energy transition in Pakistan through cutting edge research, advocacy, evidence-based policy support, and stakeholders’ engagement. Our objective is to harness the best of our potential aiming at harnessing best practices, strengthening institutional capacities, and policy-level changes.

With Alternative and Renewable Energy (ARE) Policy aiming to achieve 30% power through hydro and 30% share of renewables in the energy mix, Electric Vehicles (EVs) policy targeting to achieve 30% share of EVs by 2030, Paris Agreement goals, and the recent moratorium of coal by Prime Minister in Climate Summit, Pakistan is taking a leap towards a green energy future.

In line with the national measures, through our multi-pronged approach, Energy Unit engages with partners to mobilize work on the cost-efficient utilization of energy resources, pathways to reduce energy losses, competition and sectoral reforms, energy security, energy efficiency, policy and regulatory analysis, energy access and demand by marginalized communities, equitable energy systems, technological considerations, climate change and renewables technology, energy finance, infrastructure and maintenance, energy market analysis and modelling, investment planning, and advice on energy legislation.

OUR WORK

Energy Unit of Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) focuses on the Pakistan’s conventional and renewable energy sector with regards to research, advocacy, and stakeholder’s engagement.
