AAWAZ is a five-year
voice and accountability programme, funded by the Department for International
Development (DFID), UK and
managed by leading civil society organizations in Pakistan. The programme seeks to
strengthen democratic processes in Pakistan to make them more open,
inclusive and accountable to citizens.
The programme covers 45 districts across the provinces of Punjab
and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It aims to reduce violence against women and increase
safer participation of women and other excluded groups in political and
governance arena. AAWAZ also seeks to enhance tolerance of diversity,
strengthen the capacity of communities to resolve disputes peacefully without
resort to violence, promote collective solutions to local problems, and improve
service delivery. The programme includes a consortium of organizations; SDPI,
DAI, South Asia Partnership-Pakistan (SAP-PK), Sungi Development Foundation,
Strengthening Participatory Organization (SPO), and Aurat Foundation.
As part of the AAWAZ consortium, SDPI has prepared baseline studies on the
three themes covered under the programme, which include:

Women Political
Participation and Violence against Women
o
Dispute Resolution,
Social Cohesion and Tolerance
o
Service Delivery
(Education, Health, Water and Sanitation)
SDPI is organizing an
event to launch these baseline studies on 6th of
February, 2013 at Avari
Hotel, Lahore.
This event will be important in generating important feedback and discussion on
our findings. We seek your participation at this event.
