Health Hazards of Lead Paint and Implementation on relevant Laws
Oct 31
3:00PM to 5:00PM
SDPI’s Seminar Hall
Introduction: Lead paints (enamel) for household use have been extensively sold and used over the last century. However, their negative health implications have compelled a number of developed and developing countries to ban lead paints. SDPI and International POPs Elimination Network (IPEN) conducted a study on Pakistan’s lead paint industry to assess lead content in enamels, related rules and regulations, minimum permissible limit and implementation of laws in this regard. Research findings will be presented not only to create awareness on this issues but also to generate debate on the regulatory environment for the paint industry in Pakistan, policy and implementation gaps and ways to promote lead free paint in Pakistan.
