Keeping Kashmir Alive on Global Agenda; Legal and Political Aspects of the Humanitarian Crisis
Dec 13
2:00pm to 5:30pm
Kehkashan Hall I, Serena Islamabad.
Introduction:
The valley of Jammu & Kashmir has been crippled by a curfew since August, 5th, creating a humanitarian crisis that is coupled with gross violations of human rights by the state institutions of India. In a bid to silence the voice of Kashmir, India has imprisoned Kashmiri leadership in prisons far away from Jammu and Kashmir and interrupted the communication channels. The regime made sure that it takes all the necessary measures to suppress all and any immediate reactions to the move. By imposing a curfew, cutting off communication channels and imprisoning the valley’s leadership, understanding that the international media’s attention span would be limited to a few weeks and its extensive deployment of force in the valley and brutal treatment by
then would break down the morale of the people. So far, this analysis of India has failed as global media is keeping Kashmir alive in their coverage, and Kashmiris despite facing brutalities; stand resilient against Indian
designs.
Prime Minister Imran Khan has vowed to be the advocate of Kashmir’s right to self-determination and to expose the atrocities committed against them by the fascist regime, as their ambassador in the world. Pakistan keeping its commitment to peace is at the same time certain that Kashmir is a looming human crisis of unimaginable magnitude and deserve utmost attention and immediate action to stop the fascist RSS ideology in its tracks before it destroys regional peace with horrendous consequences.
With the purpose of highlighting the gravity of the issue and to explore effective measures for a peaceful solution, SDPI is organizing this one-day conference.
