National Consultative Meeting on Post-Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction in Pakistan
09:00AM to 02:00PM
Upper Marquee, Marriott Hotel Islamabad
Reflecting on the ten-year implementation of the Hyogo Framework for Action (HFA, 2005-2015), the global DRR community adopted the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction (SFDRR, 2015-2030) at the third United Nations World Conference on Disaster Risk Reductionon 18 March 2015. This new framework serves as a platform that articulates the recent paradigm shift of DRM policies, in terms of expected outcomes, guiding principles, prioritiesfor action, roles and responsibilities of stakeholders, and international cooperation. The framework provides guidelines to support national and local efforts to accelerate risk reduction efforts in line with their national policies on DRR and DRM. The legal dimension of the Sendai Framework guides to set up roles, tasks and mandates for the relevant authorities and to establish and/or enhance mechanisms for assessment and monitor the implementation
of SFDRR at a later stage.
