The overarching theme of this year’s Conference is Sustainable Development in the Times of COVID-19. Read more…       FOOD SECIRITY DASHBOARD: On 4th Nov, SDPI has shared the first prototype of Food Security Dashboard with Dr Moeed Yousaf, the Special Assistant to Prime Minister on  National Security and Economic Outreach in the presence of stakeholders, including Ministry of National Food Security and Research. Provincial and district authorities attended the event in person or through zoom. The dashboard will help the government monitor and regulate the supply chain of essential food commodities.

Open Data Systems for Development Effectiveness in Pakistan

SDPI is organizing a panel discussion on Open Data Systems for Development Effectiveness in Pakistan. This panel discussion followed by interventions from relevant institutions aims to look at the current data and information availability on development spending in Pakistan. As the country faces budgetary crunch at federal and provincial levels there is a need to bring greater efficiency and effectiveness in outlays of current and development budgets. Key discussion themes during this session include: 
State of public spending data at federal, provincial and local level
Automation of development budgets and procurements systems at various tiers of the government
Standardizing procurement data in form and format; how and who can analyze this data to inform government and public
Making a case for centralized procurement data for improved accountability which in turn can also result in improvement of Pakistan’s rank in global transparency indices
Informing public regarding use of Right to Information Law to access data on public spending.
