Political Barometer: Socio-Political Preferences of People of Pakistan
Time Not Specified
SDPI Seminar Hall, 38, Main Embassy Road, G-6/3, Islamabad
Power dynamics in Pakistan are an intricate affair, as complex as the country’s political structure. Despite multiple setbacks over the last many decades, there does appear to be a silver lining on the country’s political horizon: i.e. democracy seems to surviving, the result of various factors including a (relatively) liberal media, an independent judiciary and overall awareness amongst the populace. The greater constitutional autonomy granted to provinces means that voters have high expectations from their representatives — they expect prompt solutions to their issues. Therefore, it appears important and necessary to capture the opinions of people about the performance of governments at provincial levels and national level and their opinion about more nuanced matters such as APS incident, operation Zarb-e-Azb, Pak-China Economic Corridor and foreign policy.
