(Concept Note)
After
the completion of five years of elected government in Pakistan, the country is now
preparing for next general elections to be held in May 2013. The political
parties have started their campaigns with the launching of party manifestos,
considered to be an integral part of campaigning and important policy document
to outline the vision of party.
Manifestos
launched by various political parties, promise a bright future and cover most
of interest areas of people of Pakistan. However, the question of
implementation is still unanswered in respective manifestos, except the
statements of implementation will. Therefore, it is high time to debate the
manifestos of each party with people’s perspective. SDPI is holding a series of
seminars to discuss manifestos of various political parties in Pakistan. This
seminar is fourth of the series with a particular focus on Muttahida Quami
Movement (MQM) manifesto. The seminar would also discuss the relevance of
manifestos in political dynamics in Pakistan and how pro-people development
agenda can be achieved through political manifestos.
