SDPI-UNODC joint
Study Launch
‘Examining the dimensions, scale and
dynamics of the illegal economy: A study of Pakistan in the region’
The
study ‘Examining the
dimensions, scale and dynamics of the illegal economy: A study of Pakistan in the
region’ is the
culmination of a nine-month period of collaboration between SDPI and UNODC
involving extensive primary and secondary research. The key finding of this
report is that organized crime is a threat to governments, societies and
economies, undercutting the rule of law and hampering the achievement of
Millennium Development Goals. The solution lies in a coordinated effort by
governments and donors to mainstream security-related issues into development
frameworks as a part of a holistic strategy interlinking the region.
