South Asian Regional Consultation on Health Policy Institutions

On the eve of 19th Sustainable Development Conference being held in Islamabad from December 6-8, IDRC along with SDPI is hosting a regional consultation meeting on Policy research institutions and evidence based research informing policies to accelerate health-related Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Researchers and policy analysts from both government and policy research institutions across sectors related to health will participate in the meeting. The objective of the consultation will be to hold a dialogue on the role of policy research institutions, including think tanks and academic institutions in providing the evidence base, supporting countries to meet the goals and targets set by the SDGs, and bridging the globally set health agenda with national priorities and implementation strategies.
Furthermore, the session will also discuss strong health policies and systems, national and regional contexts, promotion of Southern voices in the universal health agenda, country mainstreaming of the SDGs, and the role of policy research institutions in informing the health-policy shifts required to move towards SDG attainment by 2030.
The event will take place on 5th December 2016 at Islamabad.
