Concept Note:

Speaking at the 70th General Assembly debate of the United Nations  held on 28th September 2015, UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon  called for  translating  promises on paper to action on the ground by backing a new sustainability agenda that aims to  alleviate poverty and build a sustainable future for all. With the UN stressing the need for sustainable development, Pakistan should also move forward and work on the SDGs highlighted in the Vision 2020.

These SDGs include: strengthening the democratic institutions; supporting the rule of law; improving human development and social services, especially in health and education; developing the energy infrastructure; assisting the 2010 flood victims in their recovery; improving the internal security situation; and advancing the peace process with India.

To discuss  the way forward and how can these SDGs  help in the development of Pakistan and strengthen its socio-economic structure, SDPI has organized a seminar titled: Sustainable Development Goals and the Way Forward.
