While "government" refers to planning, decision-making by the state and its institutions, the notion of “governance” at SDPI takes a societal look. How are decisions made within a certain society or nation? Who is involved in the decision-making processes and who has which power to decide? Which evidence is planning based, and which planning is taken as basis for decision- making? How are conflicting views dealt with? Using the societal lens of governance, we carried out different sectoral studies to understand as to why certain decisions and interventions work better than others. We also tried to understand people’s perception about their federal and provincial governments, and the factors that influence their voting behavior if elections are held tomorrow?
