AWARENESS ON DIABETES STRESSED ISLAMABAD SOCIETY FOR STUDY OF DIABETES (ISSD) JOINTLY ORGANISED BY THE ISSD AND THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT POLICY INSTITUTE (SDPI)
Regular physical activity, healthy diet, controlled weight and regular watch on blood pressure and cholesterol level can save people from diabetes.
Islamabad Society for Study of Diabetes (ISSD) General Secretary Dr Arshad Mehmood said this while delivering a lecture at a health awareness camp, jointly organised by the ISSD and the Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI).
The diabetes awareness and check-up camp was set up to conduct free diagnostic tests and educate people on diabetes, which is the fourth leading cause of death globally. Trained ISSD paramedics conducted screening tests of sugar, cholesterol and bone mineral density on the occasion.
They gave the people several useful tips regarding precautions, dieting and combating the disease once it has been diagnosed.
It was observed that common public often lacked appropriate information about the deadly disease and its subsequent effects, which made them vulnerable, Dr Arshad said.
