Climate change: Experts call for effective planning
Experts have called for a proactive approach backed by effective planning to respond to climate change in Pakistan.
Former ambassador Shafquat Kakakhel said the changing
climate is a serious threat to human security. He addressed a workshop
on Pathways to Resilience in Semi-arid Economies (PRISE) organised by
the Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) on Friday.
The speakers said that climate change can multiply poverty in the country.
SDPI Executive Director Dr Abid Qayum Suleri expressed
hope that research would contribute in policy planning and capacity
building on climate change.
PRISE programme is conducting research on governance and institutions, finance, markets, natural capital and human capital.
