FBR Finalised Strategy to Bring all Sectors in Tax Net

Federal Revenue Agency President Shabbar Zaidi Speaking at a symposium in Islamabad titled ” Pakistan Economy and IMF Programme: Challenges and Opportunities” organised by the Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) said on Friday that reforms were underway in the FBR and it is his responsibility to improve the tax baseunder the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
FBR chairman Shabbar Zaidi at a news conference amid looming tension over the issues of zero-rating of sales tax on textile, identity card issue and imposition of tax on flour and white flour.
Reiterating their earlier stance of no tax on flour and white flour, Mr Zaidi said that this time government had made all prior preparation for documentation. “We have data of all sectors,” he said, adding that the FBR had reliable data and would now bring them in the tax net.
“Hawala” and “Hundi” caused a great loss to the country’s economy. All steps are being taken to include more people in the tax network, “he added.
The Chairman of FBR said the institution was in touch with the business world to solve their real problems.
He said the government would not compromise on enforcement of its condition regarding the CNIC condition.
