The overarching theme of this year’s Conference is Sustainable Development in the Times of COVID-19. Read more…       FOOD SECIRITY DASHBOARD: On 4th Nov, SDPI has shared the first prototype of Food Security Dashboard with Dr Moeed Yousaf, the Special Assistant to Prime Minister on  National Security and Economic Outreach in the presence of stakeholders, including Ministry of National Food Security and Research. Provincial and district authorities attended the event in person or through zoom. The dashboard will help the government monitor and regulate the supply chain of essential food commodities.

Inherent resilience in textile sector must be complemented with export

‘Efforts on to enhance kinnow production’
SARGODHA (APP): Secretary Agriculture Sheharyar Sultan has said that almost 21 million metric ton citrus was being produced from over 450,000 acres in the province, out of which District Sargodha was producing almost 1.1 million metric ton from over 224,000 acres. Addressing the participants of a meeting during his visit here at Citrus Research Institute, he said that agriculture was backbone of the country’s economy and the government was taking steps to bring improvement in this sector and making the farmers prosper. It was disclosed in the meeting that Kinnow field was being cultivated at over 154,000 hectare of land which was almost 84pc of the whole citrus fields while the kinnow production was over 1,876,000 metric tons.

FAISALABAD (APP): Inherent resilience in textile sector must be complemented with immediate announcement of export package by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to overcome the ill impacts of climate change on cotton value chain in Pakistan. This was stated by VP FCCI Jameel Ahmed while talking to a group of Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) that was preparing a documentary on impacts of climate change on cotton value chain. Jameel Ahmed said that Faisalabad was predominantly an agro industrial city which contributed to a big way towards textile exports. Out of the total exports of 26 billion dollars, 50 percent was contributed by textile and out of it half was originated from Faisalabad alone, he added.
‘Charter of Economy’ must for achieving economic growth: Dar
ISLAMABAD (APP): Minister for Finance Senator Ishaq Dar has said that a unanimous Charter of Economy by political parties is essential for economic stability and sustained growth in the country. Addressing a press conference along Minister Pervaiz Rashid and Leaders of MQM Dr Farooq Sattar, Senator Tahir Hussain Mushhadi and MNA Kanwar Naveed Jamil,Senator Ishaq Dar said that political stability is must for achieving economic prosperity in the country. He said the MQM has agreed to withdraw their resignations from Provincial, National Assemblies and Senate within a couple a days. The successful dialogue between the government and MQM was a good development for democratic stability in the country.
Peru protesters tell IMF
‘imperialists’ to go home
 LIMA (AFP): Activists marched through the Peruvian capital Friday to protest what they called the anti-poor policies of the IMF and World Bank, which are holding their annual meetings here. Around 2,000 demonstrators joined the march, carrying signs with angry slogans and at one point burning the flag of the United States, where the IMF and World Bank are based. “Imperialists go home,” said one sign decorated with swastikas. “World Bank, universal terror,” said another. Police in riot gear carrying shields and tear gas bombs accompanied the protesters on the three-hour march, but ultimately no clashes broke out. When the march reached the meeting venues — which have been surrounded by a heavy security presence all week.
AJKCCI elects new office-bearers
MIRPUR (AJK) (APP): Sohaib Saeed Chaudhry has been elected unopposed as the President Azad Jammu Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the one-year consecutive term for year 2015-2016, it was officially declared. Similarly Raja Khalid Mahmood and Kamal Mustafa were elected unopposed respectively as Sr. Vice President and Vice President of the Chamber for the same period in the elections held here on Friday. The newly-elected Sr. Vice President Raja Khalid Mahmood Khan retained the same office for the second term to serve the chamber. Non of the rival candidates jumped to contest against the newly-elected all three victorious office bearers of the AJKCCI by the end of the stipulated date fixed for filing of the nomination papers for the elections to the AJKCCI.Source:
