Letter to Editor. HEC Controversy
I read the opinion piece carefully after some harsh comments were made about the writer on the social media. This reaction seems unfair, as he just tried to share and analyse (rightly or wrongly) the contradicting opinions of two Pakistani scholars of good repute, regarding the output priorities of the HEC. Even so, it was needless, seemingly pitting one scholar versus another. Yet it’s the writer’s choice to support the scholar of his preference, and criticise or raise questions about the view of others.
Having read the article, I belive it seems that one view insists that a larger number of students / institutions must undergo an improvement in quality, while the other view belives in the quality improvement of a much smaller number. In both cases, the end-product (graduates, PhD scholars, etc) would complement both opinions, to the benefit of improving the quality of research in our country.
