MoU signed for promoting policy-oriented research
The Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) on Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU), with the Young Parliamentarian Forum (YPF), of The National Assembly for promoting policy oriented research and advocacy, from a broad multi-disciplinary perspective. The MoU signed by YPF’s General Secretary, MNA, Ms. Shaza Fatima Khawaja and SDPI’s Executive Director Dr. Abid Qayyium Suleri aims at enhancing cooperation between SDPI and YPF in mutual areas and to encourage youth to contribute to peace, justice and social security in Pakistan. According to the document, both parties have agreed to promote and implement policies, programs, laws and regulations for sustainable development. Together they will work for strengthening civil society and facilitating civil society-government interaction by collaborating with other organizations. The two institutions will work to build up national research capacity and infrastructure in Pakistan. Research for policy and advocacy on economic issue was also part of the agreement the organizations agreed on. Both parties have expressed their commitment to expand cooperation in new areas like sensitizing the youth about gender equality, freedom of speech, rule of law and tolerance.
