Mushir Anwer Remembered
Tuesday, January 12, 2016 – Islamabad—Stephen Hawking’s quote “Quiet people have the loudest minds,” precisely represent Mushir Anwar’s life and personality, said Ashfaq Saleem Mirza, Member, Council of Social Sciences while addressing a reference in honour of the veteran journalist and progressive writer Mushir Anwar. Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) had organised the reference.
A large number of intellectuals, friends and fellow writers attended the reference and shared their memories on the occasion. Ashfaq Salim Mirza who had a 50-year long friendship with Mushir Anwar said, Mushir’s silent relationship with his wife was an example of his sincere and loving personality. He was famous among his friends as Buddha for his quite nature.
Poet and writer, Harris Khalique says, Mushir would teach an ignorant person without making him realize his ignorance. And that was his humble self-effacing personality. Harris recited his poem “Ishaiq Ki Takmeel,” a dialogue in verses between him and Mushir. Secretary General of the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan, I A Rehman says, he was a man of wisdom, who was expert in writing very briefly and concisely.
