The overarching theme of this year’s Conference is Sustainable Development in the Times of COVID-19. Read more…       FOOD SECIRITY DASHBOARD: On 4th Nov, SDPI has shared the first prototype of Food Security Dashboard with Dr Moeed Yousaf, the Special Assistant to Prime Minister on  National Security and Economic Outreach in the presence of stakeholders, including Ministry of National Food Security and Research. Provincial and district authorities attended the event in person or through zoom. The dashboard will help the government monitor and regulate the supply chain of essential food commodities.

SDPI, PAIM vow to undertake joint research on integrative medicine

The Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) inked Memorandum of
Understanding (MoU) with the Pakistan Association of Integrative
Medicine (PAIM), Islamabad to undertake joint research on integrative
medicine to promote it as a formal means of treatment and healthcare in
the country.
Integrative Medicine combines conventional methods with scientific
evidence-based alternative medicine to improve patient care. Integrative
physicians incorporate scientific & evidence based treatment
options, including immunotherapy, genetherapy, physiotherapy,
psychological treatment while supporting orthodox practice.
Speaking at the signing ceremony here, Dr. Abid Suleri, Executive
Director, SDPI, expressed the need for research to further development
policies in the country.
Citing the example of the medicine sector in USA, he said that Federal
Drug Agency USA has approved gene therapy medicine. "SDPI aims to carry
on further research on this therapy to recommend this treatment to our
health department", he said.
Dr. Mobashir Ahmed Bhatti, President, Pakistan Association of
Integrative Medicine (PAIM) said that integrative medicine is the health
care process, which creates a seamless engagement by patients and
care-givers of the full range of physical, psychological, social,
preventive, and therapeutic factors known to be effective and necessary
for the achievement of optimal health throughout the life span.
Further he asked for a full support of SDPI to develop research and
assessment of the product before providing it to nation and also educate
our professionals. "Institute like SDPI can contribute a lot in
achieving vision 2025 goals of Pakistan", he added.
Also present at the occasion Professor Ding-gang Li, Director, The
Centre of Gene Therapy & Surgical Oncology Beijing Haidian Hospital
and Dr. YU DENG WEI, General Manager, Beijing Show Cogent Bio-Technology
Co., Ltd welcomed the MoU between the two credible institutes and
promised their full support to both institutes.
Participants at the event suggested that integrative medicine should have a proper space in curriculum.
