The overarching theme of this year’s Conference is Sustainable Development in the Times of COVID-19. Read more…       FOOD SECIRITY DASHBOARD: On 4th Nov, SDPI has shared the first prototype of Food Security Dashboard with Dr Moeed Yousaf, the Special Assistant to Prime Minister on  National Security and Economic Outreach in the presence of stakeholders, including Ministry of National Food Security and Research. Provincial and district authorities attended the event in person or through zoom. The dashboard will help the government monitor and regulate the supply chain of essential food commodities.

SDPI TO HOLD LAUNCHING CEREMONY OF BOOK ENVIRONMENT, SOCIETY AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT ON AUGUST 27

Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) will hold the launching ceremony of a book “Environment, society and sustainable development” on August 27 here at SDPI.

Dr Anwar Ahmad, Chairman, National Language Authority (NLA), Engg. Asif S.Khan, Director General, Pakistan Environment Protection Agency (Pak-EPA), Ambassador ® Shafqat Kakakel, Former United Nations Assistant Secretary General, Deputy-Executive-Director Of The United Nations Environment Programme, Member Board Of Governors, SDPI, Dr Abid Q. Suleri, Executive Director, SDPI, Ahmad Salim, Senior Advisor, SDPI, Dr Humaira Ishfaq, writer and post Graduate Teacher of Urdu Literature, Dr Mahmood A. Khwaja, SDPI senior Adviser, Chemicals and Sustainable Industrial Development will speak on the occasion.

About the Books: the book is a compilation of selected research articles and papers on Environment, Society and Sustainable Development, authored by eminent writers and published in various editions of Pakistan’s premier environmental Journals “Paidar Taraqi” and “Dharti” during the last twenty years. Most of the authors are/were researchers at SDPI and their articles reflect research in diversified disciplines carried at SDPI. These writings not only summarize important environmental concerns during the last two decades but also showcase SDPI’s twenty years of struggle for conservation of nature and sustainable socio-economic development in Pakistan.

Some of these SDPI efforts include significant contributions in preparing Pakistan’s National Conservation Strategy, Environmental Protection Act 1997, National Environmental Quality Standards, Pollution Charge, Industrial Monitoring/SMART, Environmental Assessments and preparation of laws and action plans to address hazardous chemical pollutants in Pakistan. The book is part of SDPI’s twentieth year’s anniversary celebrations which includes publication of special books on various aspects of sustainable development.
