The overarching theme of this year’s Conference is Sustainable Development in the Times of COVID-19. Read more…       FOOD SECIRITY DASHBOARD: On 4th Nov, SDPI has shared the first prototype of Food Security Dashboard with Dr Moeed Yousaf, the Special Assistant to Prime Minister on  National Security and Economic Outreach in the presence of stakeholders, including Ministry of National Food Security and Research. Provincial and district authorities attended the event in person or through zoom. The dashboard will help the government monitor and regulate the supply chain of essential food commodities.

Social, creative enterprises can help achieve development goals: Planning minister.

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reform Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar has said that social and creative enterprises can help achieve economic agendas and sustainable development goals.
The minister was talking to a delegation from the British Council, Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) and the Centre for Social Entrepreneurship (CSE) which called on him in Islamabad on Thursday.
British Council Director James Thompson, Infrastructure member Malik Ahmed Dr Vaqar Ahmed, SDPI Joint Executive Director Saram Bokhari, CSE Project Directo,r and senior officials of the ministry were also present in the meeting.
The federal minister stated that supporting social enterprises can help contribute to the economy and there is a need to create an enabling environment for this purpose. However, he emphasized that there is a need to define social and creative enterprises keeping in view the domestic requirements and how they could contribute to the socio-economic development of the country.
 
He called for identifying key areas and sectors for creative and social enterprises to achieve policy objectives. The minister also underlined to explore the possibility of international funding to gain the required capital for supporting social enterprises.
The minister appreciated the work done by the Centre for Social Entrepreneurship for promoting social enterprises. On the occasion, he was also given a presentation by the visiting delegation.
