The overarching theme of this year’s Conference is Sustainable Development in the Times of COVID-19. Read more…       FOOD SECIRITY DASHBOARD: On 4th Nov, SDPI has shared the first prototype of Food Security Dashboard with Dr Moeed Yousaf, the Special Assistant to Prime Minister on  National Security and Economic Outreach in the presence of stakeholders, including Ministry of National Food Security and Research. Provincial and district authorities attended the event in person or through zoom. The dashboard will help the government monitor and regulate the supply chain of essential food commodities.

Task Force to review effectiveness of Social Safety-net Programmes

ISLAMABAD, Jun 3 (APP): In order to strengthen Social Safety-net Programmes it has been decided to establish a high-powered Task Force to undertake a detailed review of the programmes’ performance and assess their effectiveness. While presenting the budget speech, Finance Minister Senator Ishaq Dar said to determine that these programmes were optimally operated and no overlapping in their scope and work was present also falls in the domain of the Task Force.
He said based on the report of the Task Force a new policy will be formulated that would allow more coordinated delivery of social safety-net services by the government.
Dar said to bring an improvement in connectivity of remote areas particularly in Balochistan, FATA, rural KPK and other parts of country, USF shall invest another Rs. 2.8 billion this year in its ongoing programme whereupon optic fiber cable was being aggressively laid.
Additionally, Rs.3.6 billion had been earmarked out of USF to be spent on Rural Telecommunications Programme, the minister said, adding, all these efforts shall result into rapid roll out of next generation ICT services in the remote areas.
