UAE committed to Afghan peace, says envoy

United Arab Emirates (UAE) ambassador Essa Abdullah Al-Basha
Al-Noaimi has vowed that his country is committed to boost peace and stability
in Afghanistan. “The UAE has been aspiring firm international cooperation to
guarantee a future of Afghanistan free from violence and extremis. It is
concentrating on development and stability in this friendly country.”

He was addressing delegates of East West Institute and
participants of ‘Abu Dhabi Process Meeting on Afghanistan on Afghanistan
Reconnected-Linking Energy suppliers to consumers in Asia’ Monday evening in a local
hotel. Ambassador Dr Beate Maeder-Metcale, vice president and director for
regional security of the institute, also addressed the gathering followed by a
dinner hosted by Ambassador Essa Al-Noaimi.

Ambassador Essa Al-Basha Al-Noaimi said that the main
tool in helping and strengthening the connection between the countries is
promotion of free trade since it means openness to the regional and
international markets. This path helps the economic diversity and increases job
opportunities in addition to strengthening trade partnership in the
international community.

Everyone knows the position held by the UAE in free trade
area since it has rich experience in this regard. In 2011, the World Bank has
ranked the UAE as the top third country in the world regarding easy procedures
related to trade movements. This is parallel to solid vision of the UAE foreign

policy on regional and international levels as it has built
a wide network of mutual interest with countries to serve the cause of
development, exchange of expertise and trade and transfer of technology in
addition to the policy of providing generous humanitarian aid in the economics
or development fields directly or indirectly for many countries.

It has contributed in peacekeeping missions and protection
of civilians and reconstruction work after the end of conflicts. This
represents its sincerity in achieving noble goals related to international
peace and stability, he added.

The UAE envoy said his country is regarded as the fifth
largest country in the world in producing oil and

it has the seventh largest gas reserves. It also endeavours
to continue working as a reliable and firm source of petroleum.
