Water scarcity issues in Pakistan can be addressed however the institutions as well as water managers are lacking vision and understanding of the workable solutions, which is the main hurdle in resolving these issues.
Dr. Danish Mustafa, reader in politics and environment at King’s College London expressed these views while delivering a lecture “Hydro-hazardscapes of Climate Change in Pakistan” at Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) here on Wednesday.
He was of the view that water issues in Pakistan context could not be seen in isolation and we will have to deal with them while keeping in view their economic, political and cultural aspects.
Danish Mustafa in his detailed presentation highlighted the importance and commuting climate change and its impacts in future terms was not a right strategy and instead, immediate issues of the people should be addressed including the contemporary problems people in Pakistan were facing including the water scarcity issue.
