Dr Ali Salman
Founder & Chief Executive Officer, Policy Research Institute of Market Economy
Dr Ali Salman is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Policy Research Institute of Market Economy (PRIME), an independent economic policy think tank in Islamabad, ranked amongst the top 100 think tanks in the Asia-Pacific region. He is also CEO of Islam and Liberty Network (ILN) Foundation, registered in Malaysia. Dr Salman has served as CEO of Institute for Democracy and Economic Affairs (IDEAS) in Malaysia from 2018 to 2020. As a policy adviser, he has made contributions in the areas of long-term planning, economic governance, digital policy, industrial policy, innovation policy, cleantech, education policy and youth policy in Malaysia and Pakistan. He has developed a distinctive perspective on public governance by bringing a three-dimensional focus on business, public finance and economics to policy frameworks. In 2021, he published the book ‘Islam and Economics: A Primer on Markets, Morality and Justice’ (Acton Institute, USA), which has been translated into several languages.
