Dr Safdar Sohail is Executive Director of the Social Policy Resource Centre (SPRC), Pakistan. He has more than 35 years of experience in public administration, economic policy, trade diplomacy and governance reform. A former officer of the Commerce and Trade Group, he served as Pakistan’s Economic Minister to the European Union and as Member Governance at the Planning Commission, and retired as Special Secretary, Cabinet Division, in 2020. He is also Convenor of the Pakistan Alliance for Social Protection. His areas of expertise include social protection, public policy, green industrialisation, international trade and economic governance. He holds a PhD in the Sociology of Politics, an MPhil in Sociology and Social Demography and a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Policy, all from France.
