Dr Stephan Klingebiel is Head of the Department of Inter- and Transnational Cooperation at the German Institute of Development and Sustainability (IDOS), Bonn. He is also Visiting Professor at the University of Turin and Ewha Womans University, Seoul, and Senior Lecturer at the University of Bonn. Dr Klingebiel previously directed the United Nations Development Programme Global Policy Centre in Seoul, headed the department of bi- and multilateral development cooperation at IDOS, was Visiting Professor at Stanford University, and led the KfW Development Bank office in Kigali. A political scientist, his work covers aid effectiveness, the political economy of aid, international cooperation and global public goods, and governance in Africa. He co-edited The Palgrave Handbook of Development Cooperation for Achieving the 2030 Agenda. He holds a doctorate in political science from the University of Duisburg and a habilitation from the University of Marburg.
