Dr Tara Singh Bam is a Director at Vital Strategies, based in Singapore, working on tobacco control. He previously led the Asia Pacific Office of The Union and the Asia Pacific Cities Alliance for Health and Development. He has about 25 years of experience in policy development, programme management and research on tuberculosis and tobacco control, non-communicable disease prevention, health systems and HIV across Nepal, Indonesia, China, India, Myanmar, Papua New Guinea and Cambodia, and is a member of the World Health Organization Civil Society Working Group on non-communicable diseases. He holds a Master's in Public Health and a doctorate in health system development
