A-2: Literature, Language and Technology in the Time of COVID-19
- Media and literary writers of Pakistan should portray and write about the paramedical and janitorial staff of hospitals as the unsung heroes of the nation since the battle against COVID-19 is not just being spearheaded by doctors and nurses, but also by them.
- While national security is important, the Government of Pakistan should focus only on the health of the public as a first and topmost priority rather than security.
- Concerned government authorities should provide support for research, publications and continuation of online literary forums, especially those in regional languages.
- Government and private authorities should continue the patronisation of online mediums to promote linguistic diversity.
- Private as well as government sector should further skill development about online mediums.
- Literati found new ways of communication during COVID-19 lockdowns despite many writers being unfamiliar with online tools. This new digital wave of learning, writing and organising literary events should continue in the post-COVID world.
- The Government of Pakistan must recognise the work done in indigenous languages of Northern Pakistan to spread awareness about COVID-19 and set up plans for the preservation and promotion of these sources of indigenous wisdom and history. The academic community should also conduct research on the rich repository of work in indigenous languages.
