6SDGF Session 5: Review of Selected Goals for HLPF 2023 in South Asia: Reporting by the Working Groups and Way Forward
  • Urban environmental degradation can be prevented, and clean air quality enhanced by raising awareness about the sustainable treatment of solid waste and improving public transportation infrastructure.
  • For the sustainable use of water resources in SSWA nations, there is a need for horizontal and vertical collaboration for increasing access to clean water, improving sanitary systems, developing an organised data collection mechanism on district-level water resources, preserving water supplies through subsidies, and economical utilisation of water.
  • Public and private financing and regional cooperation is important to draw investments and transition towards clean energy. Energy efficiency measures, technological innovation, and energy subsidisation can help boost energy supplies. In this regard, an efficient Energy Management System (EMS) is required.
  • Sustainable practices such as lesser use of plastics especially in metropolitan areas and planned waste management mechanisms help in creating sustainable cities and communities.
