Adaptive Social Protection: Preparing for Future Disasters
  • Lack of precise risk assessments is one of the key challenges posited by preparedness towards Adaptive Social Protection. Proactive capacity building in this area needs to be undertaken.
  • Data and information play a vital role in revamping and enhancing Adaptive Social Protection programmes which Pakistan sorely lags in. Therefore, data availability must be prioritised to enhance the capacity of Adaptive Social Protection programmes.
  • Forecast-based financing mechanisms at the local level have proved to be beneficial for enhancing the operational and predictive capacity of Adaptive Social Programmes. This should be an area of importance for the Government of Pakistan.
  • Bolstering organisational capacities and improving livelihoods benefits communities which in turn strengthens the preparedness of Adaptive Social Protection during times of disasters. Social insurance can be used as a tool to protect the livelihoods of people in this regard
