Energy Corridors: CASA-1000
- To ensure the availability of jobs to young people, there is a need to ensure a 6-8% annual GDP growth rate. The Government of Pakistan should focus on natural renewable resources to increase the share of green energy in the economy. Moving toward green energy will ensure the availability of millions of green jobs to people.
- Regional integration, localisation, and better stakeholder management could put Pakistan on a sustainable energy secure pathway. More countries and more regional cooperation will mitigate geopolitical risk and strengthen economic growth.
- An ‘Energy Security Framework’ is required to actualize smart grids to ensure an affordable, clean, and sustainable energy supply at the household level. The developed world should ensure green financing to developing countries to facilitate the energy transition.
- Asian countries must assure cross-border sustainable electricity trade to ensure energy security. Cross-border energy connectivity will allow energy trade at competitive prices and will enable diversification in energy sources and routes to provide more reliable services to consumers.
- For the effective implementation of CASA-1000, partnering countries, financing institutions, and development agencies have to ensure substantial support in implementing the required frameworks regardless of political instabilities and economic crises.
