Ms Aisha Khan, with over 22 years of experience in development work, leads the Mountain and Glacier Protection Organization and the Civil Society Coalition for Climate Change. Her work emphasises strengthening climate action through inclusive, participatory practices aimed at promoting social, ecological, and democratic equity.
Ms Khan is a recognised figure on several Boards of Directors, offering expert advice on climate change adaptation and mitigation. She currently convenes the Working Group on Climate Security at the Strategic Policy Planning Cell of the National Security Division and is part of the External Advisory Council for the World Bank’s South Asia Region Climate Change Action Plan. Additionally, she serves as a Policy Advisor/Fellow to International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) and as member of the Pakistan Climate Change Council.
Her contributions extend to writing for newspapers and magazines and participating in national and international climate change discourse. She has been honoured with the ‘Bright Award for Environmental Sustainability’ from Stanford University in 2019; the ‘National Order of Merit’ by the Government of France in 2021; and Pakistan’s Civic Award ‘Tamgha-i-Imtiaz’ in 2023.
