These focused recommendations aim to significantly improve the safety standards and regulatory compliance of the construction and brick kiln industries in Pakistan, contributing to a safer, more sustainable, and socially responsible sector:
o Implement comprehensive safety protocols and training programmes in the construction industry to address the significant lack of health and specialised skills among workers. This initiative should aim to align the sector with fundamental workplace safety principles and promote decent working conditions, ensuring a safer and more compliant construction sector.
o Mandate the registration of all brick kiln establishments and their workers with relevant government institutions, such as the Employees’ Old-Age Benefits Institution (EOBI), Social Security, and the Workers Welfare Fund.
o Enforce strict compliance with labour laws, safety standards, and environmental regulations in the brick kiln industry to ensure workers' rights and environmental protection.
