Aftab Anwar Baloch

Aftab Anwar Baloch is currently associated with several reputable national and international institutions, including Reconnaissance International Ltd. He is also the Former Chairperson of Special Economic Zones (SEZs), Sindh.

A seasoned public sector leader with over 35 years of experience, Mr Baloch has played a key role in institutional reform, tax modernisation, and economic policy at the highest levels of government. He has served as Chairman of the Export Processing Zones Authority (EPZA) and held senior positions at the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), the Ministry of Finance, and within Pakistan’s diplomatic corps. Throughout his career, he has successfully led multi-agency programmes, contributed to international legislation, and published research on critical national economic issues.

Mr Baloch is the co-author of Economics of Tobacco and Tobacco Taxes in Pakistan and led FBR-WHO collaborative studies on tobacco taxation, which resulted in an increase of PKR 10 billion in annual tax revenue. His publications cover topics such as tax enforcement, digital governance, and economic reform, and have appeared in leading international journals.
He has been a featured speaker at numerous international conferences and is a regular contributor to Reconnaissance International’s publications. He also serves on the Advisory Board of Tax Stamp & Traceability News
