Dr. Mona Shrestha is a Development and Gender Practioner and also the CEO of Enterprise for Management, Economic Reform & Gender Equality (EMERGE), where she leads the work on empowerment, entrepreneurship, resilience-building, and international trade, among others.
She has more than 25 years of experience in organizations such as the World Trade Organisation, the International Trade Centre, and various development partners, including the governments of Australia and the United Kingdom and working in close coordination with different ministries of the Government of Nepal. She also has experience in the private sector, having worked with the erstwhile Nepal Indosuez Bank.
Dr Shrestha holds a PhD in Women and Gender Studies from the University of Warwick (UK), an MA in Development Studies specializing on Women, Gender and Development from the Institute of Social Studies (the Netherlands) and MBA from University of Pune (India). She has conducted in-depth studies, published extensively, and presented on key issues such as gender equality and social inclusion, trade and development, disaster management and private sector resilience, and other contemporary socio-economic topics.
