Dr Asanka Wijesinghe is a Research Fellow at the Institute of Policy Studies of Sri Lanka (IPS). His research focuses on international trade, regional integration, and industrial policy, with particular emphasis on trade adjustment and distributional costs, trade policy impacts on bilateral trade, and participation in global value chains (GVCs). His recent work examines the effects of trade policy on household food security, political preferences for import controls, and the ex-ante evaluation of regional trade agreements.
Dr Asanka holds an MS in Agribusiness and Applied Economics from North Dakota State University, and an MS and PhD in Agricultural, Environmental and Development Economics from Ohio State University, USA.
