Dr Kiran Gautam is working at the SAARC Energy Centre as a Program Leader (Energy Trade) and has served as a civil servant for last 16 years in different capacities in the Government of Nepal. Before joining SAARC Energy Centre, she was with the Water and Energy Commission Secretariat, Government of Nepal as Senior Divisional Engineer. Her areas of expertise are energy planning, energy modelling, renewable energy and energy efficiency. Dr Gautam has also worked in various capacities for national and international organisations; and has a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the Institute of Engineering in Nepal.
