Dr Mohammad Omar Masud is currently serving as Secretary Industries Department, Government of the Punjab, and as the Chief Executive Officer of the Urban Unit. He has been leading the Urban Unit since June 2020 and the Industries Department for the last ten months. Previously, he served as the Additional Secretary of Budget, Finance Department, Government of the Punjab.
Dr Masud also serves as an advisor to various international and national committees, including the International Growth Centre (IGC) and the United Nations Committee (UNC), contributing his expertise in urban governance and policy development. Dr Masud holds a PhD in Urban and Regional Planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA.
