Dr Pushpam Kumar is the Senior Economic Advisor and Chief Environmental Economist at the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), based in Washington, D.C., and Nairobi (2010-present).
He has been instrumental in designing, implementing, and providing leadership in the operationalisation of the concept of Natural Capital, which culminated in a resolution on Natural Capital adopted by the UNEP Environment Assembly. His current work focuses on integrating nature into financial and economic planning and modeling. Dr Kumar leads several key initiatives at UNEP, including Inclusive Wealth, Planetary Crisis and Human Development, Financing of the SDGs, Nature-Based Solutions, Restoration Finance, and Human and Planetary Health, among others.
