Dr Rajan Sudesh Ratna is an Indian civil servant with over 25 years of experience in the Government of India, primarily in the Ministry of Commerce, where he managed trade policy issues and international trade negotiations in the WTO and Free Trade Agreements (FTAs). He currently serves as the Deputy Head of the South and South-West Asia Office of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN ESCAP) in New Delhi, India. In this role, he leads research, policy advisory, and capacity-building initiatives, with a particular focus on empowering women-led MSMEs to leverage digital marketing and e-commerce platforms for business growth and integration into regional and global supply chains.
Previously, Dr Ratna worked with the Trade, Investment and Innovation Division of ESCAP in Bangkok, and served as Professor and Head of the Centre for WTO Studies at the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), New Delhi
