
Dr Selim Raihan is a Professor of Economics at the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh, and the Executive Director of the South Asian Network on Economic Modeling (SANEM). Prof. Raihan is recognised for his expertise in international trade, economic growth, poverty and inequality, labour markets, and macroeconomic policy. His research and teaching also focus on economic modeling, including computable general equilibrium (CGE) models, econometrics, and social accounting matrix techniques. Over his career, he has contributed extensively to Bangladesh’s national development strategies, including work on the country’s Five-Year Plans and SDG financing framework. Beyond academia, he has trained economists and policymakers across South and Southeast Asia and is known for his policy writings and editorial work with SANEM’s monthly publication Thinking Aloud. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Manchester, United Kingdom.
