Speakers’ Profile

Faran Rana

Faran Rana is an Associate Programme Officer for Renewable Energy Finance and Policy at the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), based at the Knowledge, Policy, and Finance Centre. He leads IRENA’s analysis on how countries and institutions finance the energy transition, particularly in emerging economies, and has conducted survey-based research on investor risk perceptions and financial needs under NDCs. 

Before joining IRENA, he worked at UN ESCAP, delivering capacity-building programmes to strengthen renewable-energy policy frameworks in Fiji, Tonga, Pakistan, Thailand, and Kazakhstan. He holds a Master’s degree in Economics, with experience in econometric analysis of the socioeconomic and health impacts of energy access.
