Johanna Knoess heads the Adaptive Social Protection and Social Protection including Social Health Protection projects in Pakistan. On behalf of BMZ and the European Commission, she is working with colleagues to improve the institutional, financial and technical conditions for implementing climate resilient, adaptive and gender transformative social protection.  Previously, Johanna has headed GIZ's worldwide advisory social protection program on developing innovative models for sustainable and inclusive social protection systems and initiated and directed GIZ's social protection engagement on behalf of BMZ in Indonesia. Prior to her current assignment, she was a Senior Advisor for social protection at KfW Development Bank and she has worked for international organizations such as the World Bank and ILO
